The Algarve offers some fantastic restaurants with everything from well priced local restaurants to Michelin starred restaurants that serve a variety of International cuisines.

As well as for their good food, Algarve restaurants offer that something extra; a great atmosphere, fascinating location or history - and even great service. All these things add an indefinable something to a meal, making it a memorable occasion.

If you have succumbed to the temptation to siesta during the middle of the day, you will probably be eating fairly late in the evening. The Algarve's climate means it's great to dine al fresco beneath the stars. Always makes you feel more "cosmopolitan" somehow.

São Gabriel

This is one of the Algarve's best restaurants and in the summer you cannot beat it as a romantic venue, eating al fresco in the stunning gardens under the stars really takes some beating. The food is superb too, the main menu offers Mediterranean and International cuisine but there is also a Thai garden for those that fancy something different. The restaurant holds a Michelin star and booking is essential during the summer months.

O Alambique

This Portuguese restaurant offers fresh fish as the house specialty and is incredibly popular with both tourists and residents alike, it was also the venue of choice for Chris Evans recent wedding reception. The restaurant is always busy be it high or low season. Diners will enjoy a friendly atmosphere dining inside or outside on the terrace. Great service and expertly cooked Portuguese and international cuisine.

A Quinta

A Quinta is a delightful restaurant set in beautiful surroundings; it started out life as a farmhouse before being converted into a restaurant and is located above the railway station in Almancil. The restaurant is full of charm and best described as a gastro bistro with superb cuisine and service. The menu offers Mediterranean cuisine; the calves liver is excellent and the desserts are to die for. The menu is changed daily. Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday.

Pequeno Mundo

Originally converted from an old farmhouse, Pequeno Mundo is one of the Algarve's finest restaurants offering French cuisine in a tranquil setting. During the summer months two stunning terraces allow for al fresco dining. The fish stew is the house speciality and we would also recommend the Chateaubriand; service is excellent and due to the restaurants' popularity you would be well advised to book in advance to ensure you get a table.
