There are over one hundred Algarve beaches along the coast, with the majority patrolled by lifeguards, many offer water sports facilities as well as fabulous beach restaurants serving fresh grilled fish and typical Algarvean dishes allowing you to relax in the sun and just enjoy.

The Algarve region is compact and easy to explore. Let’s be frank, the whole of Portugal is not that big, so you could easily “spread your wings” and explore further. Most beaches are accessible by road; however there are also some excellent beaches which are not always as easily reached from the main holiday towns but it is well worth going out and exploring the coast a little. Just look for signs that say “praia” (the Portuguese word for beach) as these can offer some truly idyllic small and sheltered coves.

Praia de Garrao is one of the main beaches that serves the Golden Triangle. The beach stretches between Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo and in addition to offering private areas with sun loungers and umbrellas, it offers some of the finest beach restaurants the Algarve has to offer.
